The only time I don't use my E-brake is if the temp is below freezing.

I have a stick and it's habit to use mine. It dosen't do crap when the truck rolls backwards but it holds forward pretty good. I don't know why. But I have to push the pedal in ALL the way before it will hold. I put it in neutral, apply parking bake, shut off engine, and then put into 1st.

I use mine when I'm working on the truck, and as extra security i block the wheels. When I park on a hill it gets set, makes it a lot easier to shift from park. I don't feel like seeing my truck at the bottom or in someone's yard.

well i figured i will enlighten yall with a little parking brake story. The rear end in the truck developed a squeek a couple of weeks ago. I thought that I need pads. So I pulled the calipairs off, hmm the pads don't look that bad, not enough to be squeeking on the metal thing yet. So then I pulled the rotor off and what do you know, but both of the material stuff of the parking brake fall out. Well that would explain why my truck's parking brake doesn't work. So now I have gone out and replaced the parking brake shoes and guess what, now the still squeek. I have tried adjusing on them, but no luck. My truck sounds like crap and is loud as all get out. Any ideas?

Sweet, thanks for all the comments.. yeah, I think i'm just going to have to bite the bullit and get the ebrake fixed. I was towing my tractor the other day, which with the trailer weighs in at just about 6k pounds, and was thinking, should I ever have to park on a hill with this, I should have the damn ebrake working!

Arnold, he be talkin' about the plate where everything mounts to. You gotta take that pivoting e brake cable hook out, seperate the 2, clean good, then anti-sieze between them. There are spots where you need to anti-seize on the plate itself, an oval bump that the shoes rest on, that could be the noise problem there. This hook that needs cleaning is the one that swivels (when not siezed) to seperate the 2 shoes.
