Cant find an answer

OK lets start here......... 2006 F 150 screw 4x4 XLT . What i want to do is get a new set a wheels, sounds simple right ? Not exactly im looking at the **** cepek dc 1 black 18x9 with 5 " backspacing. How far will that stick out past the stock 17's . Whats the biggest tire I can fit without rubbing (265's stock). I plan on putting on a lift in a few years......will these same wheels with the same backspace work with a pro comp 6" lift. Let me remind you truck is 100% stock and i dont want to put a leveling kit on it as of yet.

They will stick out 2 inches more than stock. A 285x65x18 "close to 33 inches" will fit but may be a little close in the front with these size wheels on an unleveled 4x4. And yes these wheels will probably work later with a 6" lift.

2" is what i thought being wheel is 1.5" wider plus its 5" backspace and stock backspace is 5.5 so 1.5 +.5 = 2 , I believe that size tire is something like 32.8 is that right ? ......... Apreciate the response anyone else have any experience with this same situation ?

I agree. If you add a leveling kit you could fit the wider 325/60-18 (33x13.00) size tires.

I've got the same truck as you and I'm running a 285/65/18 on a 18x8.5 inch wheel with no problems, without a leveling kit. Pics in my gallery.

Whats your backspacing on your wheels, because going from a 8.5" wide wheel to a 9" wide that extra .5" might come into play with the backspacing . Do you have any rubbing issues? Truck looks sweet!!!!!

Thanks! My wheels have 5.75" of backspacing. There's no rubbing, even at full lock. Hope that helps

That was my original size,i now run 18x9 with 5 inch bs american racing thugs i had a 305/65/18 on it and only rubbed very slight full lock back ing up with a 2 1/2 leveling kit.I then put 325/65/18's on them and rubbed bad,so i put a body lift on it.Check out my pics it shows how far the 5 inch bs will stick out.YOull be happier if you add a leveling kit.

There's two sides to the leveling kit though. I wanted to level mine, until I found out that it puts bad angles on the CV joints. Many people on here say not to level if you do off road driving(which I do) because it's hard on the CV's.
Anyway, my point is, Jason: if you do quite a bit of driving off road, you may want to pass on the leveling kit.

Like I said, I run a 285/65/18 with no rubbing with 8.5" wide wheel with 5.75" backspacing. Wandell will prob. chime in on whether or not it will rub with the wheels you want, but I don't think it would.

I dont do alot of off roading compared to some others, But i do a fare share of it . I had a dakota with a body lift and 33's, rubbed on full lock and hated it. MOford21 I thank you alot..... I hope wandell chimes in because from what i have read, he knows his stuff about these issues..........

You can do some light offroading with a leveling kit, just nothing crazy. Too large of a tire and wheel combo will give you more problem's offroading than a leveling kit. Limit your tire size to 33 inches and you'll probably be OK.

Not looking to over size a tire ridiculiously, just bigger than the 31's with some aftermarket wheels to improve looks and fill up that wheel well alittle.
