im going up 6 inches and wanna run mazzi hulks, but im curious as to how far they are gonna stick out. so if the oem 20's have 5.5 backspace and are 20x8.5 they will stick out 2.5 inches more? (1 inch for a less backspace and 1.5 for rim width) reason im curious is, will they get covered enough to be legal? pics would help i searched but came up with few hits.

 

Here is mine - not quit exactly what you are looking for but it has to be close. My wheels are 17x9 with 4.75" backspacing. They don't stick out that much - so even at 4.5" BS with a 10" wheel if you got the bushwacker fender flares - it would cover the portion of the tire that sticks out just fine. I guess it depends on your state to what is legal or not.
