Wheels adapters....Yes or No????
Wheels adapters....Yes or No????
The local mod shop where I live (Chux Trux) Has a set of 20" Panther rims for an 04 and up F150 6 Lug bolt pattern. Due to warranties that shouldn't have been issued and what not they are just trying to get rid of the set for $250. I have a 97 F150 with the 5 lug bolt pattern. I have done research and saw I can get wheel adapters that will go from 5 to 6 lug so that I could put these rims on my truck. I have read reviews that are mixed and have talked to people that say they have used adapters and swear by them and people that say they don't trust them and would NEVER use them. The adapters are 2" thick and the rim offset will add an additional 1.5 inches having the rims stick out 3.5 inches from the fender, I don't mind this as I don't think it will look bad on a 4x4 truck. My question is, what do ya'll think of using adapters?? Anyone have any experience with using them?? Any input would be appreciated.

I have a friend that just put a set on the back of his long travel ranger and has had no issues with them at all.
In my opinion, If you get a quality set of adapters (not ebay) and check the torque specs regularly, you should be ok with them. Let me know if you decide to go this route, I do not have any adapters on my website but I can get them.
X2 ^ I ran them on my Suzuki Samurai trail rig on Toyota axles. You have to check the torque regularly, they can loosen up easily. I don't know if I'd like them on my DD though, just adding extra stress onto the wheel studs and I couldn't see me taking off wheels all the time to check and see if I was gonna need to tighten it back up. Might also cause a slight vibration. It would be easier to find a wheel you like in your bolt pattern.
Thanks for the input!!!!!!! I went ahead and bought the rims (they took $180 for the set) I decided NOT to risk it and go thru the ordeal with the adapters and whatnot. Figured I could post the rims on craigslist, turn a profit and get some rims that will fit my bolt pattern
Appreciate the help fellas
