1998 F-150 Rear Brakes not working need help please!

Have suspected problems with rear brakes. Jacked truck up today and found that rear brakes do not work hardly at all. After repeated pumping, still will not stop wheels. Tried bleeding the rear wheel cylinders, not air. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Are they drum brakes? If they are u can get some brake spoons and there is a slit on the back of the drum and u can adjust they from there. You want to adjust them till the drum wont move then i believe back it off two or three clicks. Some one can varify this because im not exactly sure. The brake shoes are probably worn down so there not grabbing the drum.

They are indeed drum brakes; however, I checked the shoes, and they are adjusted properly and have plenty of lining left. I have been reading on some other forums and wonder if it could be the ABS brake module.

Do you see any sign of anything leaking back there. Such as the rear wheel cylinders or any brake lines.

I'm suspecting the same on mine. Very possible the proportioning valve could be the problem. Haven't checked that far into it yet, waiting for warmer weather. Will post if I find anything.

I am a little reluctant to drive without rear braking. I have plans to take to local dealership to see what the problem is and how much. I will keep you posted on the results.

The problem is most likly the wheel cylinders are frozen. If they are, you can rebuild them or get remanufactured replacements.
