Time to replace pads
Time to replace pads
Hey guys, so I have had my same brakes on since i got my truck from the dealership. I now have 35 inch tires on my truck. I'm not too familiar with breaks, but I can tell that I am going to be needing to replace the pads soon.
I have been reading around this part of the forum, and i see you guys mentioning so many different things like the rotors and replacing or rotating them etc.
What exactly do I need to do to revamp my brakes. Do I just need to get new pads or what? I also have chrome wheels, so I also wouldn't want a pad that is throwing off tons of dust onto them.
Thanks for your help.

I myself just go to Carquest, get new pads, the semi-metallic "blue" colored pads and the better of the choices given rotors. If the fronts have a lot of meat still on the rotor, have them machined or "turned" and get new pads. Cheaper that way. I assume you don't know how to replace them properly yourself? Take it to a shop unless you want to learn, good to have someone with experience show you, plus again, saves a ton of $$$ by doing it yourself. I would suspect just the fronts need replacing?
Search these pads, type Carquest or Wagner Thermoquiets and you'll see they are the 2 leading almost entirely dust free pads you can buy. I can't recommend them enough. If you decide to go to a shop, make sure they use good stuff, there is probably alot of good pads too, just ^ these are very noted for having a good rep.
Enough people can walk you through a brake job, it's not hard.

Why they are what the pad makes friction with. The shiney circular "disc" behind the wheel when you look through the spokes. Time to take it to a shop. You know your pads are going when you brake from the freeway and it sounds like a growl or squeel.
