Finally got my toyo mt's on

I finally got my 285 75 18 toyo mt's on, they measure up a even 35" tall. Know one seemed to know what this size would look like but I figured I'd be the guinea pig! They fit awsome. There is an inch of clearance all the way around even at full lock. The tires are exactly how everyone has described them so far. Good balancing, pretty quiet, factory ride etc.. I put them on ford chrome lariat wheels. They are not chrome clad but actually chromed from the factory, pretty rare I hear. I'm pretty happy so far.. except for mpg!! Oh well. take a look!

Looks great! I hope to soon be purchasing a set of tires for my truck, I was going to go with a 305/65/18 but now seeing yours and hearing the positive feedback I think im going to change my mind on tire size. You made a comment out your MPG, what difference did you see with the new tire size?

I think this size tire is the best way to go for 35" on these trucks. I have about an inch clearance even at full lock on both sides from all suspension components. Even if I aired them down and went 4wheelin I dont think they could rub at all. I debated between these and the km2s from bfg for like a month and drove myself nuts. Then I called up some online tire stores that sold both and even they recommended the toyo, saying they were the same price and "the premium m/ts". The pics, as always don't do them justice, you have to be standing there looking at the truck to see how great they look. Oh yea the 285 75 18 is also alot lighter then even the 33x12.50 18. They only weighed out about 4 pounds heavier then the bfg km2s in the 35 " and these are 10ply E rated. I like being the guinea pig for a change, had to do something different in a different size then the rest!!

I havent done the numbers yet as I only put 100 miles on the truck since yesturday when they were put on. BUT... when I'm driving the gas gauge clearly just keeps going down slowly in front of your eyes, before it went down but not to where you would actually see it moving at glance.. I'm guessing around the 12-13mpg range. BUT it is winter which means crappy gas, and they started adding 10% ethanol in the gas about a month ago around here and I have been getting very crappy gas mileage since then anyway. I had a hemi dodge before this truck that got about 12 mpg all year all driving conditions so for me I dont care too much. Once I figure out the difference in the odometer I will do accurate mpg readings. Honestly though it doesnt seem to be yet more then 1mpg loss.

I'm surprised at this comment though..

Regardless of what tire pressure I run, what load I present, I cannot get mine to measure 34.5" ... let alone an "even 35"

In fact, I programed in 34.25" into my Flashpaq upon install, as it's a hair above that measurement.

On Toyo's webpage [HERE] your size, at OAD Inflated, is claimed to be 35.1" whereas mine are claimed at an even 35".

How on earth did you measure them an "even 35" ???

may have to do with the fact that he has his on a skinnier rim so it is not bulged out at the center as much.....therefore they are standing up a little taller?

You know I did think that whilst typing, however, if that was the case, I would think [maybe] 1/8 of an inch at best.

We're talking almost 3/4 of an inch here.

Dunno....

Looks great and leave the rims! They look awesome. I'm curious about the Toyo M/T's and snow. They're a really hard compound. Doesn't seem like they would work well in our weather.

Wow, tires look killer!

Is there any other brand at that size?
