Question Aftermarket 22" wheel backspacing concerns vs. Harley wheels...

I've done some searching on this and haven't had much luck yet... Hoping you guys have something for me. I have an 04 Scab that I'm looking to put 22" wheels on.

My original pick was a Rozzi Switch, 22x9.5. http://www.completewheelsource.com/007/switch.html

My buddy is a Rep for CWS and had them send us one of these to look at/try out on my truck. My initial thoughts were that it stuck out past the fender wells way to far since it only comes in a +15mm offset. If I go to almost any other site and look for recommended wheels almost every one has a +30 or 35mm offset (still 22x9.5" rims). Does the extra 15-20mm make that much of a difference?

Also, the factory HD wheels are only 9" wide I've learned, but does anyone know the backspacing on them? They don't stick out too far by any means I don't think. They come with 275 tires also, should I go up to 305's with a 9.5" wheel?

I've also been looking at Eagle Alloys series 026 wheels, which have a 40mm offset which should be even better I would think....

Any help would be great guys, I'm having a heck of a time with this one...

I have the Eagle 026's on my Expy. They are 9.5 inches wide with 6.7 inches of backspacing. With 305's, the wheel/tire is just about even with the edge of my fenderflares.

I noticed the Eagles.... they look pretty slick on there.

Should I be using a 305 tire on a 9.5" rim, or is a 275 tire still alright?

Also, the HD's come with fenderflares, so I'm thinking I might have do add them if I go with 22's to make up some of the difference...

Anyone have pictures of 22's on a new body style supercab??

Check the tire manufacturer's website, but I'd think 275's would be fine.

I have 305's on a 22x9.5 wheel. I think they fit perfect. Dont stick out at all.

the herley wheels are +35 if I remember right, my 22x9.5's are +25 and stick out a little up front without fender flares, I wouldn't push it too far past that tho

YOur truck calls for the 35-40 offset. If yo go with anything lower than that then you start headingout the fender. It depends on how low you decide to go until you actually are sticking out the fender. for example lookat your wheel now and where it sits in relation to your fender. For every mm you go down add that to the face of your stock wheels. each 25mm is about an inch. I hope i have helped you. If you have anyother questions let me know. I may be able to set you up with some wheels.

Sleestak: those look about perfect, what offset are those wheels? Also, did you add the fender flares? what brand?

david: thanks for the info, thats what I was trying to find out. I went with a 22x9.5 with a +40 offset and a 275 tire.... doesn't sound like it is going to stick out or look skateboarded (i hope)

I guess i'll have to wait and see, and then possibly add the fender flares if it looks out of line.

thats what I was hoping to hear

also, thanks for the info on the HD wheels, i think they are 9" wide though so that changes it a bit.... but, i don't think they stick out past the flares at all.

Looking into buying the fender flares.... Found them for $60/piece for the fronts and $100/piece for the rears...

Does anyone know if the ones on the Lariats are the same as the ones on the Harley models??

Thats a GOOD looking truck right there...

I went with some Eagle 026 wheels for mine, hoping they look good. I'm thinking about adding the fender flares though, but am not sure if I need a different upper bumper cover?? When I look it up on an OEM site it asks with or without wheels opening moldings...

I'd say those flares are the same as whats on the Harley models by the looks of them...
