another question
any idea of how much it would cost for the stealership to install these???
Actually I'm not making ANYTHING off of that $100. I asked my supplier how much and he said 100... I thought that was high so I didn't increase it at all.

when its all said and done, he said it will be in two boxes and weigh about 140 lbs...shipping is crazy these days.

I will be out in the desert for a cleanup weekend friday-sunday, but I'll get your order taken care of as soon as I come back.

Remember, most of the dealers Tech's are payed based on commission. They WANT your truck to leave with a minimum of $1k price tag. Any "extras" or "add ons" just say NO to. Tell them you want this done, period.

Best bet (other then DIY) would be to find an independant Tech nearby, someone who knows what he is doing and has worked on your model truck before. They tend to be cheaper labor rates and generally non-comission based.
I too am about to replace my rotors and pad, isn't this a pretty easy DIY on the 4x4s? I figured I'd just do it with the help of a friend who's done the brakes on his car several times.

Any suggestions, hints or tips?

Ya its pretty easy and straight forward. Can't think of any real trick to it. If you (or your buddy)have changed brakes, you'll be good to go.

Ballpark on Labor ? I would say somewhere in the aea of $400 or so
(here, in SF bay area, it would be $480. But this area is a bit pricey !)

As far as pads go, I had a long discussion with my brake supplier and he said that the Stoptech Centric Pads have outperformed the Hawk pads in their own testing... so they have stopped carrying Hawk all together. I can still get Hawk from a different source, but centric pads for BMW's are one of our highest selling items and everyone loves them.

I would recommend the Centric Posi-quiet Extended Wear pads, especially for trucks with bigger tires and towing.

106.10110 - fronts
106.10120 - rears

Pads will be 78.95

TOTAL for pads and rotors will be $451.35
Alon, you are right on about Centric Posi-quiet pads. Before i found this site i got got them from the west coast @ $78 a set of four, very, very, very low dust, after a 2000mi run just a wipe with a wet rag cleaned the wheels.

Good deal. I've got a Haynes manual so I think we'll be able to figure it out. It's pretty much "plug-and-play" isn't it?

PS: Alon, I may just end up going with the regular Powerslots, not the Cryos. I haven't found anything to really justify the additional costs.

No reason not to paint all 4. Keep in mind you paint the hub part, not the surface where the pads touch.

People are lazy.

People tend to only upgrade front brakes and never take the rear wheels off to paint them (OEM).
