What to do with my brakes??

05 4x4 with 25,000 miles, every time i look at my wheels i want to throw up, besides the fact that the rotors are rusty they also squeal and squeak when stopping which is extremly annoying. should i stick with oems replacements, or will the same thing happen rusty and noisey, or should i get a fairly reasonable set of aftermarket replacement rotors and if so can u please list a few that wont put a whole in my wallet thanks

Get Powerslots, Hawk pads, and paint your calipers. I had great success with them on my truck.

The Powerslots and Hawk pads can be found at tirerack.com or autoanything.com

some people's wallet's are thicker then others. Figured I'd put it out there.

Plus, if you want QUALITY, you will have to pay. Just how it works, get what you pay for.

$175 for rotor aint too bad if you ask me, thats ^^ their price.

$888 total for "short stop" upgrade to all four. Again, not bad if you ask me.

Total price for rotors will be $372.40

As far as pads go, I had a long discussion with my brake supplier and he said that the Stoptech Centric Pads have outperformed the Hawk pads in their own testing... so they have stopped carrying Hawk all together. I can still get Hawk from a different source, but centric pads for BMW's are one of our highest selling items and everyone loves them.

I would recommend the Centric Posi-quiet Extended Wear pads, especially for trucks with bigger tires and towing.

106.10110 - fronts
106.10120 - rears

Pads will be 78.95

TOTAL for pads and rotors will be $451.35

That is all direct replacement and will be about $100 for shipping...These suckers are HEAVY... about 30lbs each.

If you would like to order go ahead and send me an email with the part numbers I gave you along with the make/model/year.

Thanks

Alon

I would guess you would be charged about 4 hours labor. Labor rates depend on location.

Remember, most of the dealers Tech's are payed based on commission. They WANT your truck to leave with a minimum of $1k price tag. Any "extras" or "add ons" just say NO to. Tell them you want this done, period.

Best bet (other then DIY) would be to find an independant Tech nearby, someone who knows what he is doing and has worked on your model truck before. They tend to be cheaper labor rates and generally non-comission based.
