97 F150 Drum to Disk help
Did anyone ever convert the rear end & or add disk brakes to a 1997 F-150? I would like to do the same. Any info would be a big help. I was thinking perhaps going to a F-250 rear end, add new F-250 rr springs as well as new F-250 ft torsion bars. Thanks

well unless you disagree with every automaker out there, ive seen discs on 2+2 on every truck since Ford came out with the Screw. better efficiency, stronger, more dependable, better looking. only bad thing i heard about them is then arents as strong as drums under load. but why do all the new F-150's, silverados, etc have discs 2+2?
i am also interested in putting discs on my rears. if i do that, i need to my fronts too, they need new shoes as it is.

The brake swap is anywhere from 500 to 1000 for a kit, ,the swap is prettty easy to do,a good quality kit will come with everything you need.As for swapping the rear end,I would keep the 1/2 ton rear end you have.Remember you have 5 lug bolts,it you go to a 3/4 ton rear, you will have 8,and you cannot rotate tires, nothing like that.and you will still have drum brakes, unless you swap those out too.But there is nothing wrong with drum brakes. Are you doing alot of ttrailer pulling,if not,I would leave them alone.
