Tire suggestion

I have a 05 4x4 that I will be installing a AS 2". I will keep the stock 18" wheels but need an idea on the tire. I have had three sidewall punctures with the stock tires (rock, stick and a nail). I want something new with some substantial rubber on the sidewalls. The only off roading will be while hunting. I have to pull a boat down a dirt/gravel road that can be pretty beat up at times and slick as snot when muddy. Other than that its my daily driver on the pavement. Any suggestions on a tire that will fit my needs. Also I am not really trying to max out on size but would like something a little larger for better looks and performance.

size wise i think a 33" would look good...tire brand i suggest(no particular order, they are all very similar and will perform the same) bfg a/t, procomp xtreme a/t's, toyo a/t, nitto terragrapplers...there are also several members running cooper tires...any of the above tires would be an excellent choice

The BFG TA KO all terrain would be a great tire for you.

The stock size is a really good size for that truck but if you want something a little larger the 285.65.18 would be perfect. Here's a link to BFG's info on the TA KO

As long as you are putting on the 2.5" AS kit, you can fit up to 35" (or metric equivalent) tires.

However, on the stock rim, I think a 33" tire looks best.

The above suggestion to get the 305/65R18 BFG is a good one.

This is hmfic's truck with them on the stock King Ranch 18" wheels:

Here is goldmember's truck with the same setup:

If you're looking for a strong sidewall, the BF goodriches have a 3 ply sidewall, and a rim protector lip too if that helps

Thanks guys, these are the exact answers I needed to hear. The BFG A/T is the tire that I was looking at to begin with. Thanks for showing the pics of the 305/65R18, I was wondering how that would look. I think I am going to play it safe and install the AS 2'' because I dont want to wind up nose high. Are the pictures posted 2 or 2.5 inch? Are the BFG A/T's pretty durable tires. I had some BFG Comp T/A on another truck and they did not wear as well as I would have liked. What is increasing the tires size going to do to my fuel milage.

You can easily get 60,000 miles out of a set of BFG AT KO's.
