Please help! I need to rationalize to my wife getting bigger tires!

Tell her that the bigger tires have a larger circumference so they cover more ground with each revolution so you'll get better gas mileage. If she buys it, by the time she realizes you're spending more at the pump it'll be to late.

You guys are cracking me up, keep it coming
My wife was working and the major bread winner while I was in college '78-'82.
I drove a 1970 Plymouth Fury II, lime green, had been in some kind wreck the right front clip was messed up.
Paid $100 for it and had to spend another $100 for (4) recaps, installed, for it to pass inspection.
If I made a hard left turn, the passenger door would fly open.
Couldn't put anything in the huge trunk because the rear glass leaked like a sieve.
It had an AM radio but the antenna was broke off, no air, and the heater defroster didn't work.
Oh yeah, the drivers seat...it was a former 3M corporation company car and the salesman that drove it musta weighed 375 lbs.
I'm 6'2" and when I sat in the seat you could just see the top of my head and some knuckles on the steering wheel.

How many times did you make that hard left with one of your buddies in the passenger seat? hahahahahaha Not only was your driver seat wore out, but the skid marks on the passenger seat told the best stories..........

Sounds like good time Raoul! That's the kind of ride my kids getting for their first wheels (but it'll be an F150, of course)

It's not a typical question about "will these fit" but rather... how do I convince my wife that it is worth the price?
My tires are nearly bald, but not bald enough to warrant new tires.
My tires make the truck shake when going between 25 and 40mph because they're out of balance. The tire shop has balanced them for free for me twice, but it didn't help a whole lot, so they said 'well they're just old messed up tires, not necessarily out of balance'
Other than that, it's starting to ice here, and i'd like some AT tires to handle ice/snow/mud (I'm not even going to try to rationalize the mud part)
Any ideas on how I can totally convince her to let me get some new TerraGrapplers?

Sorry pal, gotta lay down the man laws, be strong. It's easier to ask forgiveness than permission. I'd feel ball less if I had to ask HER permission to buy car stuff, she never asks to buy shoes and purses does she?
wow.. how to convince the wife question.. just get the damn tires, seriously what is she gonna do? if shes paying for them then thats a diffrent story and u should get a better job.. if ur paying for then ur not following the man law. i hope a big budlight smashes u like that commercial for asking such a question.
keith204, then just run these tires bald, or when you have the wife in your truck, do something to throw the handling off, ie, turn too fast on wet/icy roads, and blame it on the tires... ask her if she wants to see her man (YOU) get killed on the road so she can save some $ on tires!
What do you tell a women with 2 black eyes???????????????? Nothing, you told her twice already

Thats bad, but i heard it the other day. Honestly, I am lucky that my wife doesnt care. She just rolls her eyes when i tell her how much something costs for my cars or truck. I always say, it is either I spend my money on my vehicle hobbies, or I start a drug addiction...She then rolls her eyes again, and just walks away with that look on her face, but at least she never says no (so far)

Sigh....amatures.
Your in college right? There's a simple solution to all of this. Make friends with the guy who has the tallest truck with the biggest tires on campus. Then complain to your wife that you have to haul all his hot female friends around because his truck is too tall for them to climb up into.
She'll probably take you down to the store herself just to make sure your lift and tires are taller than his.
