How is it that.......

I must have read a hundred threads on this forum about , Will 305/55-20 fit on stock wheels, and I have noticed that it is about 50/50 on weather or not they will rub. I have a 07 FX4 supercrew with Bilstien 5100 leveling shocks, Does any one else have the similar and running these 305/55-20 tires on stock rims. I need to get rid of these POS Scorpion tires they SUCK in the snow. So my plan is to get Nitto terra Grappler, but I have to find out what size I can go with. Thanks for your help.

Tires may or may not rib depending on the rim. Sometimes people forget that a rim can push the same tire out a few inches or suck it under the wheel well a few inches. The pivot point from which the tire turns (farther inside the wheel well or outside) makes a HUGE difference on whether or not it will rub.

That is likely why you are getting mixed opinions.

Anyone running this tire on a stock Ford 20" rim. I dont have the money or the time to deal with the TPS issues that go olong with new rims. Though I would love to get them.

If Wandell says you should be fine, you should be fine.

I have no experience with 20s, but that tire is slightly smaller (33.2" tall) than the 305/65R18 (33.6" tall) BFGs that people are running on stock 18" rims.

On stock wheels I agree they should be fine. I have 305/55/20's on aftermarket rims, and had to do a little trimming, I think because my tread is pretty aggressive.

In 2005 there is not a TPS system. You should be fine. I just had wheels put on my truck that is also a 2005.

I sold my 05 screw and bought a 07 so I would have to deal with the idiot sensors. I dont think its the hight I have to worry about its the width of the tire.

Oh, i saw that is showed that you had a 05. My buddy has a 04 with a 2" leveling kit and 285/55-20 on xd wheels that rub at full lock if he is hauling something and causes the front to rake.

I am thinking since I cant find a store to test fit the 305/55-20 I might just go with the 275/60-20 Terra Grappler. Not as tall , just over an inch , but the same width as the stock tires.

You can go with a 275/55-20 with no problems. That is what is on my truck and also is the factory size for the 20's.

I just mounted a set of 305-55-20 BFG AT's on Stock "07" 20's - No rub at all!!!

My truck is a 2004 Crew - stock height. I would probably do a 2" leveling kit, but I tow a trailer and that levels it perfectly.

It Will Fit & Looks Great So..... Go For It!!!!

One of these days, a sticky cut & paste from Wandell's years of replies would be a great service to the board.
