I may try what you have next time around.

Where can I get the Wagners?
Got mine at a local parts store, they ordered them, had them in two days. About $48 per axle.

Looks like they are $42 a set if you have an O'Reilly auto parts store around.

I need to change my stock pads some sort of bad. They turn my wheels black in a 10 mile round trip into town. If I drove the truck as my dd, they would have been gone a long time ago.

Thumbs up

I inquired to the Forum with the same question, The dust was driving me crazy. Following their suggestion I purchased a set of CarQuest Blue pads (semimetallic) for the front. I swapped them in about an hour and a half. That included cleaning the tires and wheels front and back. I needed to monitor the buildup of dust from clean surfaces. Please understand, I drive about 150 miles a week so the dust buildup will be at a lesser degree than those driving more. With 20" chrome wheels even the slightest deposit is visable. RESULTS = Almost no dust visable in one week, slight visable deposit in two weeks (had to check with a paper towell). By the way, my vehicle gets washed every week but fot this test I avoided cleaning the front rims to monitor the buildup. MY OPINION = Anything is better than the stock pads. CarQuest made me a Happy Camper. I changed the rears last week because they were squeeking. No noise after the change.

For brake dust I have also been told that a very inexpensive fix, especially for Fords, is a grounding strap. Have been told by a number of people that this can help lessen the brake dust on the front wheels. I've ad my new 2007 F150 SuperCrew for three weeks and haven't ground strapped it yet and it is extremely dirty with brake dust. Can try with the low dust pads and see if it makes any difference.

Nope, they won't touch the pads unless something is really messed under warranty. Everything else is considered normal wear and tear. It would be totally fine to swap out to new ones. Provided they are installed right, there shouldn't be an issue if something else is faulty and warranty covers it.

Ok, where do I get the pads? I found a local Carquest and the pads for front or rear are like $65. I have not been able to find the Wagner Thermo Quiets at all to compare price difference. Dont want to order over the net unless thats the only or cheapest option. Local Autoparts stores like Autozone, O Reiley's, PepBoys and Napa did not have the Wagners.

Whatever the price, they are worth it. I pay about 75 buck cdn $ for my fronts, 65 ish for rears. Hell, each are cheaper than a tank of gas and last 100-200 times longer. Seriously.

Do you have a local parts store, not a chain? One ordered my Wagners from a warehouse, 2 days, $48.

I have a 04 XLT 5.4 4x4 and just replaced the pads and rotors all around. I recommend using the carquest "blues" as they are called. I also installed drilled and slotted rotors all the way around and the combination has limited brake dust and improved my stopping time. Go with the carquest blues.....
