I remember seeing an ad for Carquest Reds. Does anyone know what they are?

Got mine at a local parts store. They had to order them, took two days. I have about 51,000 miles on them and they have been perfect.

Almost sure they are the cheapest, or value oriented pads. If not that, they are OEM equivilent and they "black" pads are the cheapest. See this link:

http://www.carquest.com/parts.html

Thaught there was 4 levels.

BLUE20004X4, thanks for the reply. I guess I should have gone to their site and read a few words of wisdom.

I would say the green pads from Summit would be the EBC pads. These are their stock replacement pads. I had to get new front pads and the installation shop put Bendix on. They were a minor improvement above stock. They were dusty also. I contacted an EBC outlet that carries pads/rotors. I got the yellow front and green rear pads. If you want to stop 5000 lbs like a sports car these are it. Not bad for $185 delivered. I want to get the rotors as soon as I can afford them (fronts $175/pr rears $195/pr). I've seen a little more dust on the fronts but with what they do I can live with it. Years ago I used to run carbon/metallic on the street and a racing grade on the track.

They may be, but not sure? Then again, the Carquest pads "are" made by Raybestos.

Ya, I'll bet you have the same or very close. I think the thing with the Carquest "blue" is just warranty, for which they have lifetime against noise, excessive dust etc. Either way, you'll be pleased.

I highly recommend Wagner.

Oreily's sells the thermoquiets.

I am the assisstant manager for a high volume, big box tire store and use them exclusively. They are 99.99 percent noise free and very low on dust. They are very impressive for the price.

We do over a hunderd brake jobs a month, with all being flawless in part due to the great pads.

Now that is an impressive testamonial. I am totally satisfied with mine, and intend to use nothing else.

Any tutorial on how to change the front pads on the 2004+ trucks? I have 4600 miles and the dust is horrible, Do I have to bleed brakes or just swap pads and what tools are needed?
Thanks
JK

I think it's going to depend on your driving. A lot of people claim Carquest Blue's don't dust but my opinion is that is horse crap and they aren't doing a lot of driving. I average about 670 miles per week and I can say by the end of that these wheels have dust ALL over them. I wash my truck every weekend too so they don't go long before getting cleaned again. Typically after I wash the truck with my driving the wheels will start to get dirty again by day 3.

Now for some people on here who may only drive 200 miles in a week I can see why you would say they don't dust. But do some driving on that sucker and they will.

I drive about 2000 miles per month. I had to get my factory pads off at about 11,000 miles due to the excessive dust. I went with Wagner ThermoQuiets and they have been great. When I have to go 2 to 3 weeks between washes, there is hardly any brake dust. They are dirty from the roads by that time anyway. There are many that have had similar results with the carQuest Blues.

lol That was my point. To those that have had great success I doubt they are driving many miles. However, I would still take the Blues over the stock pads any day of the week. But to say they don't dust after some good driving....

I may try what you have next time around.

Where can I get the Wagners?
