Delco Brake Pads/rotors

Ok so i've read a ton of posts on what people think about what brands to install for pads and rotors. Does anyone have any thoughts on Delco brand Pads and Rotors. The shop I go to uses them and trying to figure out when I go there tomorrow to just let the shop go ahead and order all the parts they think is best or go out and buy something else. Are there different level of Delco pads/Rotors etc. I've called a few places and asked about "Thicker" or "Heavy Duty" rotors and everyone says the same thing..... They are all the same thickness... if they were any thicker the caliper wouldn't fit... Now obviously you all can tell im not a mechanic of any sort so just looking for some advice! Thank You.

So my information may be a little old and therefore out of date but... AC Delco is/was a division of General Motors. I would NOT use GM stuff on my Ford!

Raybestos is/was a manufacturer of brake parts. They have been around for years and years. They have always been known for manufacturing quality brake parts. I would not have a problem with Raybestos parts.

Dana Corp is/was a manufacturer of axle/suspension parts. Once again, quality stuff. Have they purchased Raybestos? Perhaps. I know a lot of companies has fallen on hard times because brake linings used to be make of asbestos. Litigation has destroyed many companies.

So, for years, if I need a part for my Ford, I go to the Ford dealership! If I owned a Dodge, I'd go to the Dodge dealership! Same for a GM vehicle. I wouldn't go to the foreign cr dealership because I'd never own a foreign vehicle.

Anyway, for better or worse, that's my take.

GM parts, no problem.

This happens all the time. It is very possible that a part from your Ford dealer and a part from a GM dealer came from the exact same vendor. Many of these vendors have been merging or buying each other out , so it is ever more likely that this trend will increase. The auto companies outsource more and more every day. I would not be afraid to use a GM branded part on my Ford truck as long as it meets the design specs. All of the big name suppliers sell to all of the Big 3 and others, its how they stay in business. Example: If GM dont sell any cars this month, no biggie, they also make parts for Ford, Dodge, and Honda. I work in a factory that makes automotive parts, and today I made 10,000 Delco parts, tomorrow I might make Chrysler parts. I do this everyday, so I know.

The only reason I would insist on Ford parts is if the truck is still under warranty. If not I might buy the cheapest as long as it a name brand part.

Delco Parts

I worked at an Mom & Pop Auto Parts Store for awhile, they had Delco Parts as well as Motorcraft. Always found Delco to be of good quality, they had the Low, Medium and High priced versions like all the rest. Motorcraft was always the more pricey of the 2.
