I just bought a 98 f150 and am looking at buying new shoes
17x9 moto 956's and i am looking for help with tire size. Should I go with 285/70x17 or 305/65x17 both just as tall, what are clearance issues as I haul a slide in camper unit but I have firestone air bags installed.

you can do both but the 305 will be wider and you should crank the torsion bars. even then you may have to trim your lower valance. i have the 285s and there is no rubbing or trimming and did not have to crank the torsion bars. the best person to ask would be wandell he knows exactly what will work, i have the factory wheels and tow snowmobile trailers with no problem with the 285s with 3.55s and the 4.6 you can see how they look/fit in my gallery

 

You will be fine with either. At the most, you may have to trim the front bumper's lower plastic valance. I have some pics of where you may need to trim in my gallary.

I got 285/75/16 on my 97. Fits well with no rubbing.

Hows the ride quality and what air pressure do you use with LT tires? I need to get rid of the Goodyear RTS as soon as possible as they R total crap!
