so i left school today and on the way home i noticed a bad vibration in the steering wheel and a thump when i slowed down. so i pulled over and looked around. i am missing 4 lug nuts, and 2 of my studs are completely gone. my guess is that someone tried to steal them and got interrupted. so im stuck with one 3 lugs right now. does anyone know how to put new ones in? i have the new lugs i just dont know how to change them out

 

They are usually replaced by pulling them through the hub. You just insert the stud, put a long lugnut on it and crank down on it. It's best to use an impact wrench. ANy tire shop should be able to do it in a few minutes.

 

how do i get the old ones that are ground off out of the hub?

 

I guess you would just have to hammer them out with a strong punch.

it didnt happen at school. there are way too many police in the parking lot all the time. i just noticed it after school

 

Yep, I was trying to get the rotors off my in laws Expedition and I accidentally hit the stud head on and knocked it out. I just drove the lug nut down tight and it locked the stud back in place.
