I have an 03 F-150 4x4,rear caliper rattles when going over bumps. Caliper bolts are tight but if you grab the caliper and try to wiggle it it will rattle on its mounting slides. Has anyone else had this happen? Know afix?.

 

are you sure its the caliper rattling going over bumps???

 

May be the pads rattleing?

 

resaon i ask is cause i had a annoying rattle on my 97. i could not find it for the life of me. it turned out it was my leaf spring shackles. that little band that wraps around them.

 

I have the same thing. Was driving me nuts trying to figure out where that rattle was coming from. But, I noticed when the brakes were applied slightly the rattle would be gone. That's when I looked at the calipers and say that could rock back and forth on the bracket no matter how tight the 2 bolts were. I asked here too a ways back... still haven't put together a fix yet. Seems like you want the calipers to have some float to them, so I'm hesitating on trying to lock them in place some way.

 

my 02 front brakes do the same thing. rattle over bumps unless brakes are applied. plus the wiggle when i grab them. it seems like there should be some fatter replacement 'slides'. ANYBODY know of a fix???
