305/50/20 or 305/55/20

ok, finally with the pics from raptor2, thanks by the way, i am about to order up some cooper zeon ltz for my oem 20s. question is: is the 1.2" in overall height difference worth $280 a set? discount tire has the 50 for $200 a tire and the 55 for $270 a tire. they are the same width, 12" and rim, 20", but one is a true 32" and the other is a 33.2".

also, what makes them rub at full lock? is it the width or height?

any opinions will be nice.......

I'd go with the 305/55-20's. It's a combination of tire width, height and the wheel that causes the rubbing on the control arms at full steering lock. Personally, I'd rather have that than them rubbing the fenders.

labman, mine only rub the control arm when in reverse and at FULL lock and that has only happened once or twice. If I back the steering wheel off just a tad, it stops. This does not concern me what so ever now that I've had these tires for about a 1000 miles. I like the 305/55/20 over the 50. The 50 will actully look smaller than the stock Pirelli's because the sidewall is not as tall. I would call discount tire in Charlotte NC, thats where I bought mine, tell them about my deal and ask for the same, all they can say no right

You can't go wrong with the "55's". Their a better fit than the "50's"

I have the 305 50 20's, It all depends the look you want, the 55's are just a bit higher. The 50's give you a little sportier look.

Good luck!

Keep in mind his truck is lifted slightly and your FX2 is at stock height.

labsman, you definatly want the 55's, I see you have the leveling kit, if you go with the 50 that tire is going to look small. My truck is stock height with the 55's and I still have empty fender space that I could fill. If I had the leveling kit I would probably go with a 325/60/20(35x12.5)

The OEM Pirelli's are 31.9" .. them 305/50's is 32", so that don't compute ....
