285 or 305

Hey guys, im knida new here, i have a 04 4x4 lariat screw with the as 2.5 and was wondering, for my stock 18's, should i go with 285 or 305 bfg a/t. What are the problems with the 305's. The heaviest thing i would be towing in a 21ft boat, but i will take it off-road often
Thanks

Either tire will fit the stock wheels, the 285's are a 33" and the 305's close to 34 inches. The 305's will fit great with the leveling kit and probably look better! Welcome to the site!

Either one will fit fine. You are basically comparing a 33x11.50 (285/65-18) to a 34x12.50 (305/65-18) tire.

Look at Smitty's Lariat gallery, he had some 305's on stock wheels. I think he put on some 35" MT's recently.

What ever decision you make, remember, its your truck and you have to look at it evey day. Just because someone likes a bigger tire doesnt mean that you have to.
285/65/18 = 32.5"x11.2", 305/65/18 = 33.6"x12". Price will be a factor also, the difference between a 285 and 305 will probably be a good bit, you have to ask youself, is an inch in diameter and 3/4" in width worth the extra cabbage

Either will fit, but 285 fits the rim better. You should have an 8.5" wheel to run the 305.

Give me a call if I can help.

I've had both on the 04+. I think the 285's look good, but the 305's are even better. Check out my gallery for pics of BOTH. Both trucks are leveled.

285's will fit without a leveling kit, while you need at least a 2" for the 305's.
