18in or 20in

Is there any benifit or disadvantage with going with a 20in wheel as oppose to 18in wheels?

20 will ride rougher and cause your tire and rim price to go up. 18 will save money and be smoother.

I went from 17's to 20's....still rides great but you can feel a lot more imperfections in the roads. If you hit a big pot hole it feels like it went straight to your rim. These results are from a 305/55 tire. I would think a tire with a taller sidewall would get better results.

the price between 18's and 20's aint that much no more, neither are tires for that fact. i'd for sure go with 20's, wrap that 20 is some meaty tire, just sick i cant wait til next summer 33x12.50 Cooper STT's on some 20x10 Helo's.

It's just personal preference.

Like Wandell said, just personal preference. That being said, I think 20's look really good!

Shorter sidewalls tend to have lower load capacities, so it may depend on how you use your truck. Personally, I think tire diameter should be about twice wheel diameter - 18" wheel, 36" tire. But then, I am old school.

Also, if you off road, sidewalls are a good thing. More sidewall, less likely to get rim damage.

I have the stock 20's on my 07 scab with Pirelli Scorps. I've always ran 15" with 33"-35" on my other trucks. I definitely notice the more rigid ride with the 20's; however, they seem to handle better on the curves (freeway on ramps).

I'm gonna go checkout some new chrome 20's at the local Discount Tire. I want something that has more of an offset and looks cool.

Anyone know anything about Victory Wedge wheels from Discount Tire?
http://www.nascarcustomwheels.com/n370k.php

List shows $285 each, I can get them for about $90 each with my discount.

Regardless, I'd go with 20's and add some good rubber to them, then you'll have COOL + GOOD RIDE.

SKrewd, you running a 6" lift?

Mickey Thompson now makes a Baja ATZ in 35x12.50 R20. Now I just have to decide on what wheel to choose.

Just remember going to a 20" rim will mean less clearance for the tire. Go with either 20's with 33" tires or 18's with 35" tires. Is that correct Wandell

No that is not correct. Rim size doesnt make the tire bigger. if you buy a 35 for a 20 and a 35 for a 18 they should still both be 35in tall.
