Spacers??? Need help ASAP

Well i just picked up a set of toyo open country M/T tires and they are 35/12.5X18. I posted earlier on here and everyone said they should fit with the factory FX4 18's and a 2" leveling kit. I just took it by the local tire shop and the lugs on the side are rubbing against the upper control arm. They said they dont sell wheel spacers and they dont really reccomend them. I managed to pick up a set of 1/4" wheel spacers but are they ok to use? Am i going to have enough thread on the wheel studs? For now i just have the stock tires on the rims but tommorow if things will work im going to take in the rims and have everything mounted.

So just curious if im good to use a 1/4" wheel spacer, and if im going to have any other clearance issues with these tires.

Most people have reported that 35x12.50's on OEM wheels will rub the control arms at full steering lock, especially with mud tires with aggressive sidewalls. Most people don't worry about it as the rubbing is minor. If you want, you can use the 1/4 inch wheel spacers.

The part where it was rubbing on mine was actually right where the ball joint is on the upper control arm. They just put them on and when they tires were bolted up there was some definate rubbing. It might have gone away once the truck would have been lowered but i dont know. It was still up on the lift when we noticed the rubbing. I picked up a set of wheel spacers so ill just get the tires done tommorow and hopefully everything else will be fine. Am i going to have to worry about any trimming or anything? Or does it only contact the control arm when your at full lock?

I just installed a set of 305/55/20 (33x12) I have an 07
4x4 with factory 20's. Discount tire installed the tires and called me on the phone and said "bad news, they are rubbing the control arm" I didnt see it, I was down the street eating. I told them to put the stock tires back on. I picked up the truck and left unhappy. I made a few calls and was told to go back and buy the tires and bring them to a local guy in my town. I did this and the next day went to the local guy, he installed them just to see where we stood. They were only rubbing at full lock, he said lets use the 1/4" spacer just to be safe. He installed them but balance after balance we could not get a terrible shake out of the steering wheel going down the road. I said lets try it without the spacer and see what happens, it was smooth as silk at 75 mph. The spacers was causing the problems Everything is fine now, like I said when I am backing up and have the wheel fully locked I can feel a slight rub but if I back the wheel off just a tad it goes away. I can live with this because really, who spends that much time at full lock and even when you do it is at very low speeds. I was very uncomfortable using spacers on my new truck, almost to the point that I was ready to take the tires back for something else. (sorry for such a long post)

The clearance on the control arm is gonna be very tight. So tight that the tires may not rub after it was set on the ground or after the front end is aligned (after leveling kit installations). THe 22's on my Expy are the same way. They are so close to the upper ball joint that I noticed a rub mark after my wife hit a deer. The impact of the deer pushed the tire over slightly and it rubbed the upper ball joint. I'd suggest having an alignment and see if you still need the spacers. Maybe even try an 1/8 inch spacer.

Well im going to throw in the spacers for now and hopefully get it in for an alignment in the next week or 2 and see if that will help fix it so that i can pull out the spacers.
