Anti-lock

I have a 97 F-150 4X4 Off Road 4.6l. The anti-lock indicator comes on for no apparent reason, and at no partcular time after about ten minutes. Will come on and then not again for a month or two. The strange thing is truck does not have anti-lock brakes.

Any suggestions?

I don't think you would have an ABS indicator light if you didn't have ABS.

Sounds like a sensor issue. Have you had it checked

I would agree that its a sensor but since the truck does not have anti lock brakes what would Ford have tied to that light ?

All 97+ F-150's have ABS. Why would you think your truck does not?

Ford told me it does not and the hubs do not have wires going to them to count them. Also when I stand on the brakes they skid no anti-lock happening.

97s had rear only anti-lock, not front.

Exactly! No matter how ineffective the RABS system might have been, it was still in charge of the ABS indicator in the cluster.

Well, if there is a failure with the ABS system (thus the lamp), then it will be disabled and you'll lock up the brakes.
