ABS Light
Depends.
If RABS, it's just grounding a jumper and counting the flashes.
If 4WABS, you need a proper scan tool. These scanners are not cheap, you won't be getting a freebie.
Determine what you have first.

The jumper is behind the outside plastic kick panel on the passenger side front seat area.
Here is the diagnostic: 1998 F150 RABS Diagnostic.pdf
Bear in mind that the most common ABS fault is a defective rear diff sensor. When they fail, they open. A quick check with an ohmmeter can verify if it's good or bad. Good ones are around 1.2K +/-400 ohms. The sensors are available from both dealers and parts stores for under $30 and takes less than 10 minutes to replace.
If you get a fault code other than one relating to the rear diff sensor, let us know what the fault is and I'll post the appropriate Pinpoint test or other needed data.

I've already replaced the sensor on the diff. It checked out OK, (1157 ohms) but I replaced it anyway. I will now use the diagnostic info and see what I can find. Thanks so much for the help!!
Well, I grounded the orange and black wire and the ABS light flashed 3 shorts and 1 long. What does this indicate? I should also mention that my parking brake on light stays light all the time.
The long flash has to counted as the 4th flash. You have a DTC code of "4".
I'll post the diagnostic procedure either tonight when I get home from work or in the morning if no one else has.

Locate ABS control module and gently pull on #3 wire (light green/black) and #10 (red/pink)
If they seem intact you will need to check your rear diff speed sensor wires the same way.
Next you will need to check resistance of the wires between the sensor and the control module itself.(same 2 wires) No more than 10 ohms. You are checking for conductivity here.....no broken wires.
Check resistance of the speed sensor itself....no less than 2500 ohms or it is bad.
If all this checks out you will need the Intermittent Diagnosis test procedures
This is the most common code when the rear speed sensor is bad.
