I think (not positive) you would be ok if you went to a 33. I would not want to drive very far on it because it makes you differential work hard because they are spinning at different rates. It is kind of like driving on a doughnut. I dont thing you would want to do it with 35s though. If you cant spent the money for tire 5 spend the $45 bucks and buy a AAA membership and skip the spare.

I was thinking tires not brakes on the last post. In theory the computer will think one tire is slipping because of the different rates of speed. (smaller tires spin faster to cover the same ground) but even if that is the case for the short time you would drive on it I dont thinkn it would cause any damage to anything. (just my unprofessional opinion, take it for what its worth)

If you have a limited slip rear differential then you'll want to minimize running a smaller spare. The other option is that if you have a flat on the rear then move one of the front tire to the rear and run the spare up front.
