yeah you were right chum in figuring the size, the first number is the width in mm, the second number is the aspect ratio which is a % and is multiplied by the width to figure the sidewall height. a 315/70 would most likely be found in a 17'' rim size and would be basically a 35x12.50. A 305 is 12 inches wide.
