Total Newbie looking for wheel and lowering kit advice....
I've read quite a while and decided to take the plunge and join in! I have a '01 2WD stepside (?) XLT, totally stock. The look I want seems unique, and will no doubt show my age!
What I want to do is lower both front and rear, with the rear sitting higher than the front. I'm not wanting anything TOO low, but I'd like to fill in the wheel wells better. At the same time, I want to put Cragar SS wheels on it, preferably a size or two larger than stock, and wider in the rear. A 60's musclecar look, if you will....with all the modern comforts.
So what size wheels/tires will achieve this?

So, judging by the desire for Cragar wheels and a raked look, you must be a little older?
I would go with a 2 inch front drop, and just 2 inch shackles for the rear. Should be about right.
As for wheels, 20s about right? I'm thinking you don't want 22's.
As for tires, to be honest I'm not positive on size but probably 55 series would be good, and stopping by a local tire shop like Discount Tire would be good to confirm size options. Go wide and thick for that muscle look.
You can also go 18 inch wheels, with a 32 inch tire...my buddy did it on an Explorer sport and it looked REALLY fatty/mean.

Thanks guys!
Lol, older, yes. More mature, hell no....:O) Thanks for the advice guys!
I'm thinking when you get up too far in size the SS wheels change style, so I'll probably go with something like 20's max. I know Discount Tire carries them - I had a black '92 Z28 that I put a set of the Cragar SS wheels on it. It was too cool. Nothing like trying to get back pieces of your childhood at a late stage of life...lol.
