My son has a 2001 F150. His tire carrier is stripped and no longer lifts the tire. I have read on hear that this is not a too uncommon problem. I wanted to ask those of you who have replaced yours if you went with a bone yard carrier or a new one and how much it cost you. I have found used for $45-75. I have not checked prices on a new one.

How many tires does he go through that he wore out the winch? Just kidding, I think you'd be fine with a junkyard one, I almost replaced mine for a similar issue. Turns out there was just a lot of mud in there so the key couldn't lock in. pulled the winch and cleaned it out it's as good as new now. good luck
