I got rub

I tried to put on my new tires and they rub like crazy. 2006 xlt 2.5 AS level kit with 35 x 12.5 18 Nitto mud Grapps (stock rims). They rub on the upper control arm big time. I swore I saw this setup before and they didn't rub.

Most people have rubbing on the control arms at full steering lock with stock wheels and 35x12.50's. Tires with real aggressive side lugs like the Mud Grapplers have the worst rubbing. Is the rubbing just at full steering lock?

Is your truck a 4x2? I have 315/70r17s on mine and nothing rubs. Maybe its the added height (.4") or added width (.2"). Switch them out for some BFGs

IMO, that is a lot of meat for a 2.5" leveling kit...

yeah there's rubbing when the wheels are straight. the side wall is about 1/4" away from the upper control arm and the lugs hit pretty hard (they are about 1/2" wide)
Its 4 x 4 and oh yeah I just dropped $1K on these so its not to easy to just switch them out for BFG
I guess I'll have to put in some spacers unless somebodys got a better idea

yea, my 35x12.5R18 procomps do the same thing- you learn to just deal with it, and not turn full crank!!!as the tires wear down, it happens less as the lugs aren't as deep. i've got 18.5K on mines with no adverse problems--other than the rub...

yea that would be fine if it only rubbed at full crank but its rubbing all the time. I went a 1/4 mi. or so and it wore some of the lugs off and got pretty dam hot

How bad are they rubbing while the tires are straight ahead? You could run a small spacer.

He said he was using OEM wheels, like a lot of members have done with no problems. You did have the truck aligned after installing the leveling kit, didn't you?

No I haven't had the alignment done yet. I was hoping to get them on and then take it in for an alignment. I was trying to do the geometry in my head and thought that would make it worse if anything but I could be wrong. let me know on that. That could be my problem
there's alot of rubbing its actually more like the side lugs are hitting the up. control arm, the side walls in between the lugs are only about 3/8" or so from the up. arm
thanks for the info guys I'm starting to miss her
