Kumho or Falken

I am stuck and can't decide between the Kumho ECTSA STX or Falken Ziex S/TZ. They are very similar tires. The Kumhos are V speed rated and the Falkens are H rated. I can save $100 with the Falkens, but from reading reviews and specs, the Kumho seems to be a better tire. I believe in paying for quality but if the Falken is as good a tire or better, I definitely will go that route. I need to order tires now. I have 4.10 ring and pinion and some added horsepower and torque and I don't want to spin. Do you think the Falkens being H will be a harder compound and spin easier?

Please, any experience and knowledge on this comparison let me know. I've never owned either brand. I liked Nittos on my past Stangs.

Are the 2 close enough to not be concerned? H is next letter down from V rated.

I'm anxious and need tires.

I know they both make a pretty good performance tire. As far as which is softer, check the treadwear rating. Anything lower than 220 or so is going to be SUPER sticky and hug the road nicely...but at the same time, wear like crap. H = 130mph, V = 149mph.

Have you looked at the BFG g-Force KDW?

I have not checked out that BFG. I know about the tire, but haven't thought about it for my truck. I'm looking into it now on my laptop.

Both the Falken and Kumhos are 420AA treadwear.

Done. I just ordered the Falken Ziex's in a 285/60/17. A little more footprint to make up for the slightly harder H rating if any opposed to the V rated Kumhos. I feel they should stick like glue. I couldn't pass the deal from Discount Tire Direct. Free shipping and no tax. All 4 delivered for $508 total. They should arrive late next week. I'm anxious for my new rubber. They will look much better as well.

Yeah Falken's are good...420 is decent treadwear, they should last a good while but still give good traction. I didn't realize these were for your truck -- you mentioned what you liked on your stangs ... I don't think they make the KDW in a truck size anyway.

Let us know how you like them.

Yeah, Nittos are catered for cars. I just made that Nitto Stang statement to see if someone chimed in with something like (if you like your Nittos, you'll dig the whatever brand),,,know what I mean? The Kumho & Falkne seems they would be right in line with Nitto as well. I think I'll hook up good with the size and H rating. Like I said before, my factory S raters even grabed okay when they had good tread. I can lay patches all the way through first and on into second now though. They are toast of coarse. I'm ready for these to get in, and will definitely keep you posted.

My tires were just delivered.

I put my truck in for a new rear bumper and to fix a small dent in the bottom of my tailgate yesterday, 4/30, as the result of some female running into me at a stop light a few weeks ago. They told me it should be ready in 3 days so I figured the tires would be here around then as well so it would be perfect timing. Now it's killing me. These Falken Ziexs are good looking tires.

Thumbs up for Discount Tire Direct That was fast.
