Rear brake clicking noise
Thanks for the sanity/reality check! I blanked on the e-brakes. I looked at the rear discs again and had to spray the down with WD40 to get them to let the discs/drums go. But finally with a little persuassion with the dead blow hammer I was in. Thjere I found the drivers side pads just sliding freely and thus causing the clicking noise. It looks like they just came off the brakes and were driving me crazy. Thanks again to all and pass the word on this one. If there are any questions out there I can clear up, or if you want to see the pictures of my findings let me know.I am going crazy trying to find out what the cause of the clicking noise in the rear-end of my 2WD Extended Cab 2000 F-150. The noise only make itself heard when I am slowing down, like when turning into a spot and it even started doing it when backing up. When I step on the brakes there is no change and it does sound cyclic...tick, tick, tick...and it slows down with the truck. I am thinking it is the brakes, but can not prove it or figure out how to make it stop.
I have removed the hub caps - no go (I have heard of that)
Removed the wheels and retightened the calipers (no-go)
Hope somebody has heard of this?[/QUOTE]

I had this EXACT same problem on my 2002 super crew. I lived with it for over 2 years until I figured it was the parking break shoes that came loose. While I was in there doing that I also found out I had a rear axel seal that was leaking too.
I have an 04 fx4 and my rear brake on the passenger side is making clicking sounds like a metal clip is hittin metal and a metal in metal sliding sound. Also feels like my driving with the parking brake on when it is off. I took everything off and it looked ok to me what should I do? Some one please help.
