One more little tidbit; while I was researching the Michelin's to put on my last truck I found that they had the lowest rolling resistance of similiar tires. That will save you more gas.

ive had both tires on my truck. we got 70,000 outa the michelins. their great road tires, i went in the sand once and dug myself to the axle. put on the bfg ats..great tire, slight hum above 50, nothing noticable. great traction. little heavier but thats it. the off road traction is comparable

I'm installling 275/60/20 Michelin LTX M/S this weekend on my 06 FX4. I chose the LTX M/S over the BFG because I drive 80-90% on the highway and I got a good deal.

?

i have run both on my 04 3/4 ton van and my 06 as well- on the rear- the ltx's suck in the snow compared to the bfg's- the ltx's won't steer in the snow either-maybe since i'm 2wd-but anyways- both vans -i run the bfgs in the winter- couldn't be happier-bit rougher ride on the frt axle and not as smooth- but as far as snow traction goes- night and day-phil

Well I have the LTX on my truck and like them. No experience with BFG. I dont go off road. I dont understand your dilema with the two. One is a highway tire and the other off road. The Michelin is excellent for highway. The BFG is rated well for off road all terrain. If you are not going off road then I would get the Michelin.

I think you're being kinda optimistic about tire life. Even with plenty of tread left, after about seven years it's time to replace.
I wouldn't trust a seven year old spare that has never seen the road more than enough to just get me to a tire shop.

I got 65k out of the OEM Wranglers. I've put 35k on the LTX M/S and they still look new.
