Whats the deal with wheels spacers?

Hey I am not too sure what the deal is with wheel spacers, but i think i want some. I have 325/60r18 tires on 18x9.5 eagle alloy 102 wheels. I was looking for the tire outside te fenders look. I guess because my tires werent wide enough, or the wheels had too much backspacing i didnt quite get the look i was going for. From what i understand spacers will push my rims out alittle bit to possibly get me that look im getting for. Does anyone know a good place where i can buy these? are there any detriments to these? and do i need to modify anything to put them on?

thanks

Yes, they will push the wheels out. But they increase leverage which will lead to increased wear and tear on suspension and steering components. They may also cause your tires to rub. That is why they are not used often.

Red face Don't do it...

wandell is right.

Unless this is just your toy or Sunday Driver...

Lug nuts, Ball Joints, Wheel bearings, A Arm bushings, Steering components will "FeeL" the added "leverage" you will be adding.

performance first... looks second.

also very dangerous.. if weever run into them at work (discount tire co).. we immediately stop and consult wiht the customer.. we never put the spacers back on.. there is another type tho, that acutally bolts on to the wheel.. may wanna checkthose out if anything.. but deff stay away from the ones that just slide onto ur lugs..
