another bs/offset question

if a wheel is size 20x9 and has 5" backspace and 0mm offset, does that mean it is a straight 2" increase in width over a factory 7.5" wheel that has 5.5" backspace?

Yes, it will stick out 2 inches farther.

wandell, thanks. you think that will fit w/ say a 33x12.5 or 33x13 tire, on a 3" lift in the front w/o any issues? it sounds the same size as some of the setups already discussed before, but it could be a little different due to the different backspacing/offset.

You should be able to fit those wheels and tires on a 04-07 4x4.

I have a similar question. I have a 2004 Screw 4X4 and I have read that 285/70R17 are the biggest I can put under it without any leveling kit. Does that equate to any particular inch measurement? 322X12.5? I guess I just don't understand how that works.

Also when I go after market rims with these tires, how much backspace should I be looking for in a 17X8 or 127X9 rim? I know stock is 4.5 backspace (right?). I just want to put a bigger rim but don't want it to stick out of the fenders so far that it kicks rocks into my paint. Wife hates the bushwacker flares so that doesn't appear to be an option either.

The OEM wheels are 17x7.5 inches with 5.5 inches of backspacing. I'd stay close to the stock backspacing. Also a 285/70-17 is basically a 33x11.50-17 tire.
