I have a 2002 XLT 4X4 5.4 with 3.31 gears. I have looked at a lot of posts on tire fit and know that I will not have a problem fitting 285/75R16 on my truck. Which is what I would like to do. My question is, Has anyone done this with the 3.31 gears and how much of a dog did the truck turn into? I plan on getting the Superchips tuner the same time I get the tires. If I need a gear change I am going to go with the 265/75R16's. Thanks in advance.

 

why would you go with narrower tires if you got gears? You should be fine with those, and it wont slow you down that much.

I have 4.6L 3.55LS gears with 33 12.50R17 don't feel like it slowed me down at all

 

I meant that instead of gears I will just go with the smaller tire.
