Question question please help!!!

ok so i am wondering why 35x12.50R20 Toyo Open Country MTs are $339 each, yet 35x13.50R15 are only $229 a peice. what is the R15 and R20 at the end mean?? i know the 13.50's are wider but what is the difference?

Rim size...

One is a 20" rim and the other one a 15" rim. Generally, the bigger the rim size, the more expensive the tire will get.

You have to use a 16 inch or larger wheel to fit over your brakes. You can't use 15's.

Tire sizing.

It's called alphanumeric sizing. 315mm across the tread area(edge to edge). 75 is a percentage.(sidewall height is 75% of tread width)/ r-radial construction. and last number is wheel diameter. Overall tire height varies from brand to brand but it would be equivalent to a 35x12.50-16. A 35x15 or 35x16.5 will be wider because of the way the tires are designed. They are called high floatation series but load capacity is typically lower. Online to figure sizes go to Toyo's website or Tires.com as both have programs to do that. Or you could break out the old caculator..... 24.1mm=1.0 in. Nah, too slow of a process.

Yes, a 315/75-16 is essentially a 35x12.50-16 tire and will work great on a 16x10 and a 6 inch lift. I have that combo now with only a body lift.

Here, use this website. Allows you to type in the tire size and gives you output on how big the tire will be...

im afraid that the 35x12.50R16's will look too small w/ a 6" lift, is there any way i could squeeze some 37x13.50R17s in there (6" lift) and just get 17" rims????? plus, i don't want the tires to sit "flush" w/ the side of the truck, i want them to be a bit wider.

The 10 inch wide wheels will make them protrude slightly from the wheelwells. You may be able to fit a 37x12.50-17 using a 17x10 inch wheel, but it will be tight. I don't think I would try a 37x13.50-17.
