brake stroke doesn't seem right

i know that now days you shouldn't have to pump the brakes to really get them working. however i've noticed the past week that if i get on the brakes, doesn't matter if it's light or hard, the pedal stroke is longer than if i pumped it once. if i don't pump it the pedal goes down probably around 2-4" before it really grabs. if i do pump it the brakes grab almost instantly and the pedal stroke is maybe an inch.

fluid is fine and the pads seem like they still have a good bit of life in them.

anyone else ever noticed or experienced this??

Odds are you have an air bubble in the line. The first pump compresses it, the second pump gets better pressure. Time for a brake bleed.

X2 Sounds right to me. Bleed the brakes out and I bet your problem disappears.--DIY
