That was just for the front but it was money well spent.

I tried $35 Autozone rotors w/ ceramic pads and the rotors warped in 8k miles. The mid-grade $55 Napa rotors have held up much better. I've yet to hear a bad thing about the Brembo OEM replacement rotors from Tirerack.

I wouldn't use slooted/drilled on a daily driver. They tend to wear the pads quicker.

Pads: I'm happy with my Napa Ceramix, but they were $88/set. I've heard good things about $50 Quiet Stop ceramic pads.

Please give me some advice

I would say that is a fair price for the best parts plus doing front and back brakes, but not front. I'd shop around because if you aren't going to do this job yourself, it should only take someone an hour at most and parts should be around 150-200 bucks max. They should be able to turn your rotors because they have lots of life left, thickness wise. If the cost difference is minimal, just get new ones then. Don't cheap out on parts really, but $750 is waaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyy toooooo much. Oh ya, since there is rust underneath, under 100 bucks oil sprays that problem, my 00 still looks new underneath, 176000 km's and 7 yrs now. Hey, buying a chev aint bad, depending on truck size. The disc brakes on the rears of the 2500+ 4x4's are like between 1500-2000 CDN $ just for parts I hear. Just don't say you'll buy a Toyota or Nissan!!!

Blueman I hate to admit but I have a nissan altima for work:o
The truck is for hunting and fishing and I just love it and if I had it my way I would have bought a new truck
Anyway, what is this oil spray treatment? Here it is the salt on the roads that ruins it. I should take pics of my undercarriage and show you guys, maybe I am just paranoid! Anyway what would you recommend for parts? My rotors are only rusted out around the edges...does this mean they are still good????

Ya, the rotors should be fine, they will rust pretty fast around the edges and the center, but antiseize around the hub so they don't rust together there. Also, for parts, I've always used Carquest parts, I believe pads and rotors are Raybestos made, Carquest named. For pads, use the second most expensive "blue" pads and the better of the 2 choices for rotors, more thick. Your rotors may need just refacing or cutting, but weigh the $$$ between getting them cut vs. a replacement. Even though your originals may be fine. As far as stopping, they may be a little better than stock, but by no means worse. Dust is almost non existant, even after weeks of mixed driving. Noises too as long as certain parts are installed properly and antiseized correct. Let us know how you make out. Forgot to mention, the oil spray or undercoating should be pretty common in salted road areas, try Ziebart, they are about the only US one I can think of, but the yellow pages ought to have something. Personally drip or dripless each have pros and cons, but drip seeps into spots better but drips on the driveways, it stains for a little but goes away after a while.

All canadian prices, but the pads were I believe $110 or so, and the rotors were around $50 each. I think all together I paid around $200-220. The f-150 parts are a little more money than the average and Auto Zone would be very similar, they probably have Wagner made parts which I hear are as good, but get OEM or higher, but not the most expensive. I originally had the Carquest "gold" $180 a set pads and they were too hard and squeeled after 10000 km's.

Blueman,
I talked to Carquest... and it is $39 a piece for the rotors in the front. They are Raybestos stamped Carquest, and $43 for the ones in the rear. Also it is $70 for the rear brakes and $70 for the front.
Thats a total of $304 for parts!

Damn it

That's actually pretty decent Jim, for all front and rear combined so I'd say do it. Those are the "blue" pads I hope (best ones IMO) that have the warranty. I also take it you're doing them yourself? I can offer as much advice as possible, I basically can do both blind now. Those "gold" pads, went through 2 sets front and 1 rear before I realized the pads themselves are NFG. The parts guy heard these were bieng a problem, suggested the "blue" pads and asked what I thaught. I couldn't say enough good and he passed on the good word to others. So my experience has been 4 front brake jobs and 3 for the rear.

I am looking at getting those Raybestos at Carquest, and then the Durlast Gold brake pads at Autozone.
What is the difference between ceramic and semi metallic?? Which Do I need?

Jimmy, I can't remember but I think the blue ones are semi-metallic, and if that's the case, that's all ya need. I don't know the differences really, but if ceramics are the ones I had, the "gold" ones then the difference is noise and headaches, plus a larger hole in your wallet paying for both of those.
