Tire/Wheel size help

I am looking at buying some BFG KO 285/65/20 and want to put them on a set of Liuid Metal Magma wheels. I do not know the backspacing or exact width. I measured and they are around 10" They currently have Nitto 305/55/20 tires and there is just too much air between the tire and wheel well. I mounted the wheels and tires on my truchk and they seem to extend outside my fenders about an inch further than the OEM wheels/tires do. Will the 285/65/20 fit....If not, is there a better choice? I have aqn '06 4x4 and just do not want to rub. Thanks.

Are you sure about that BFG tire size? I know BFG makes a 285/55-20 which is basically a 33x11.50-20 tire.

I am not certain! But, I just went back to the BFG site and it is definately listed there. Here are the spec's on both tires.

LT285/55R20/D Rim Width --- 8 - 10 width on rim --- 11.7 on 9 overall diameter --- 32.5
LT285/65R20/E Rim Width --- 8 - 10 width on rim --- 11.5 on 8.5 overall diameter --- 34.7

Let me know what you think about these fitting under my '06 4x4 with a 2" leveling kit. I tried the wheels with 305/55/20 and there was too much room between the tires and wheel well for my liking. I really want to get a taller tire if I can withouot problems or rubbing. Let me know what you think. Thanks for your advise/help.

They would fit if you were using OEM wheels for sure. It will be very, very close with an aftermarket wheel. It's impossible to say without knowing the width and backspacing on the wheels. Could you measure the wheels or go to the manufacturers website and get the width and backspacing?

These look like they may be last years model...Liquid metal Magma. I went to the website and looked for this information. But, the wheels do not look exactl the same. They are roughly 10" wide and the backspacing is not known. Is there a way to measure that or find the specifications on a previous model wheel? Thanks!

I just put the new BFG K/O LT285/65/20 on my 05 4x4 scew with the AS 2.5 and Skyjacker 1.5 aal. The wheel I went with is a 20x9 with 6" backspace and I have no rubbing issues at all. Granted I've only had them mounted for a day but so far so good. Will post some pics or even start a gallery when I get my camera back from my son.

I would love to see pictures. Thanks. Since the wheels I am looking at are used I do not have the exact specifications on them. Do your tires fill your wheel well?

To measure the backspacing, lay a straight edge across the outside of the rim's rear lip. Then measure from the straight edge to the mounting surface of the wheel (where it bolts to the hub). This is backspacing.

Thanks Wandell! I sent him a message and asked him to measure the backspacing. Will you be able to tell once we have that number? Thanks again for your help!

Well, it's sort of an odd size combo. What worries me is the 10 inch wheel width.

OK! I finally got the the answers. 20x10 wheels with 6.5" backspacing. Will this wheels work with larger (taller) tires and a leveling kit on my '06 4x4.

Wandell is the wheel too wide for the tire? If so, I would go wider. But, my main concern is filling the wheel well with tire......

Thanks for your help on this!

Here is mine with the same tire size that you want to run. 20x9 rims with 6" backspace, no rubbing at all and clears everything behind the wheel too.
6.5" backspace with a 10" wheel might be a little much, not sure.

That looks really good! Thanks for posting the picture. The tires look great. But, the last post by Wandell has me concerned that the wheels I had located may not work. So, I stuck again between the 18" and 20" wheels. So Confused!
