04 FX4 w/2.5" Autospring. T&W
I'm trying to gather some information to start searching out new tires and wheels for my 2004 FX4 4x4 SCREW. I installed the 2.5" Autospring leveling kit and the truck sits nice and level now. I want to avoid the rubbing if at all possible. I think what Wandell and others said that 35x12.5 was the max with 2.5" AS to avoid rubbing. I want a long wear tire for mostly pavement/gravel/dirt. I don't go mudding for fun but it sometimes gets in the way. So does anyone have a good long life tough aggresive/impressive tire recommendations? I love the look of those Nitto Mud Graplers but not if it don't last on the road.
Wheels has me the most confused. I'm considering the Moto Metal 951 18x9. I guess I would want the 6" backspacing to avoid the rubbing. I see the offset can be +30 or -12mm but I don't understand the advantages except the +30mm would stick out even further. I would like the tires to stay behind the factory flares with maybe a just little peeking. There's alot of wheels out there but this seems like a good popular choice. I'm leaning toward the black version. Any problems with the blacks?
So all in all I want to find a good long life 35x12.5 a/t tire on a good wheel that looks mean but stays mostly in the wheel well. Oh and won't rub a hole in my truck.

Actually, the more positive the offset, the less the wheel will stick out from the fender.
