Seeking Wheel and Tire Advice
I have a 2006 F150 Supercrew 4X2 with the 17" machined aluminum wheels w/ painted accents. I am contemplating either 1) adding a 2" or 2 1/2" spacer, or 2) installing preloaded Bilstein shocks in order to level the truck's stance. I don't want to raise it, as I am not after an off-road look. Leveling it will cause the front end to sit a couple of inches higher, however, and I think the P255/70R17s that came on the vehicle will look too small for the truck once it is levelled.
My first question is does anyone know the width in inches of the 17" machined aluminum wheel? I looked on Ford's web page but didn't see this info.
Second, what is the largest tire that the 17" machined aluminum wheel will accomodate? Money will prevent me from replacing the wheels, at least in the foreseeable future.
Third, would you guys please recommend some tires that would look good (and drive good), on the stock wheels, after the truck is levelled? Again, I am not an off-roader. This truck is my daily driver and a tow vehicle for the boat I hope to purchase next year.
On my previous truck, I drove Bridgestone Duelers, which I really liked. I see Bridgestone makes a P285/70R17 Dueler A/T Revo which, although it is named the A/T Revo, looks like a street tire to me, and not an All-Terrain tire. Finally, would this be a good choice and does anyone have experience with this tire?
Thanks in advance.

The OEM 17 and 18 inch wheels are 7.5 inches wide. Yes, you can fit a 285/70-17 or a 265/70-17 tire using the OEM wheels with the leveling kits you mentioned. The Duelers would be a great choice. You might also consider the Nitto Terra Grapplers or Toyo Open Country AT's or BFG AT KO's.
