I'd go with a 285/70-17 (33x11.50) or a 33x12.50-17.

Lots of people like the look of 4wd trucks. Since the OP lives in Dallas, probabyl doesn't actualyl need 4wd. So, save $3k on puchase price, then change tires and a $300 lift.

And higher insurance, lower gas mileage. Lots of reasons not to go with 4wd.

315/70 - Wandell?

Hey guys, 1st post on here. I've been reading all of the posts and I know there is a ton of information about all of this stuff, but a question fo wandell. You have the 285/70-17's on your truck now, right? I have the same on my '01 4x4 SuperCab on the stock rims and absolutely love them. Great tires and look great on my truck with no lift. Would you suggest to keep those tires on and just get a 3" body lift OR upgrade to the 315/70-17's with no 3" body lift. Or just go for it all with a 3" body lift and the 315's?

I'm looking for something to make my truck stand out more. I've got 113,000 miles on it and just moved about 2 tenths away from work.

(Yes, that's right - if I drive from home to work, work to home from lunch, home to work back from lunch, and then back home - confused yet? - and that's all I drive my truck for, I will put about 4 miles a week on my truck - times 52 weeks - 208 miles a year = One $50 fill up a year. But I drive a little more than that so it doesn't really matter - I just like to think What If?)

I want something that really stands out, but also don't want to spend more than $1000. Your thoughts?

Thanks for all of your help. It's really cool that you guys reply to almost all of the posts on here. A lot of message boards don't have the response that this board has. You really help a lot of us inexperienced folks out A TON !!

Personally I would go with the 3'' bl and the 315 (35's). That would make your truck stand out a lot more than the other options. You might have some trouble getting all that for $1000 but you could probly get close. I'm sure Wandell will tell you to get 35's I am pretty sure I have seen him say he is ready for his 33's to wear out so he can move up to the 35's....

Yep, I'm really wanting to get 35's but I'm beginning to wonder if my BFG's will ever wear out. (Currently at 50,000). Here's my advice. I'd go with a set of 10 inch wide aftermarket wheels and a body lift, without a doubt. Whether you go to 33's or 35's is strictly up to you. Either one will look great. I have the 5.4 with 3.55 gears which is marginal with 35's. If you have a smaller engine, you might want to stick with 33's unless you want to install lower gears.

I'm not sure 35's will fit on a 2wd w/ only a body lift. Doesn't that just put it at stock 4wd height? Maybe on stock wheels, but 10" wide wheels? Stick to 33" tires for 2wd w/ body lift. also, stock 2wd tires are probabyl 30" diameter. going to a 33" tire will be enough of a performance delta if you are used to how it drives now.
