More agressive tread

I am not really looking for a bigger tire as i am looking for a more agressive tread. I have an '05 Lariat Screw 4x4 with the OEM 18's on it. They are stock 275/65 18 BFG's. Anyone out there know of a more aggressive tire that fits the OEM wheels. I like the looks of these rims.

go to www.discounttire.co and look at the tires they carry in that size and see if you like any of them. I like their site for tire ideas and questions.

A tire I really like is the Cooper Discoverer ST, a couple of my buddies have 'em and they look great and seem to wear great so far. As one guy at a tire shop I talked to put it, "they are a pissed off, all-terrain". Also, if you want a mud tire look at the BFG MT's if you aren't price oriented or I just put a set of Hankook RT03 Mudders on and they are sweet so far, real quiet and sweet looking.

the BFg All-Terrain TA KO Tire is an awesome all-around tire with tread that will serve any purpose with above average results.

I think the BFG All Terrain AT is the OEM tire. Honestly I think the OEM tire is the only one in 275/65/18 from BFG.

The 285 65's will be a little wider and a little taller than your 275 65's. But they would fit fine and look good.

About 5 tenths of an inch in diameter, basically the difference between a 32 and 32.6(33) inch tire. Well the 285 is basically a 33x11.50 and the 275 is like a 32x11.00 tire. The difference is really minor and both would fit, and if you really want the BFG AT it would work.

How about the difference in the speedometer readout. Can that be adjusted to accomodate?

You can adjust the speedo with one of the aftermarket computer tuners. However the tire heights is probably less than 1/2 inch so it really isn't necessary. Also, the BFG AT KO is a much, much higher quality tire than the cheap OEM BFG's.

Exactly what he said. the BFG All-Terrain is NOT an OEM tire except on the Fx4 Ranger, Hummers, and maybe a few other high-end off-road vehicles. I had them on my Ranger and LOVED them.

They look great, they grab on just abou anything from dirt to mud to snow to sand, and they last forever compared to comparable tires. I know of several people with mid-weight SUVs like 4Runners that got 80k+ on a set more than once.

Pretty amazing...

Yeah, BFG is like every other tire company. They make some quality tires and they make some cheap tires. Ford, unfortunately has a reputation for buying cheap tires to put on their vehicles.

I'm somewhat in the same boat. OEM on my '01 4x4 King Ranch Screw is a 265/70/17 Goodyear RTS. I swear I would get better traction running the bare rims. I'm going to replace them this summer. I can't go any bigger because I park in a basement garage with a low header on the door and the truck only clears by about an inch. The truck will never be a hard core offroad machine but I would rather err to the more agressive side of the AT tire market than to end up with something like the BFG Rugged Trail that would slick over in the mud. I prefer to put something on that a local dealer carries in the town I live in so that if I need to get a replacement it will be easier. So I'm looking at the BFG AT K/O, the Yokohama Geolander and the Cooper ST. I know the reputation of the BFG ATs, but they are far more expensive than the other two. The Cooper ST looks like it will handle the mud and rocks of central Missouri better but I'm worried about on-road noise. Any input would be appreciated.

They are definitely an awesome looking tire, I would have gotten them had I stuck with the stock size tire. Like I have said before I have two buddies that have them on chevy's and they both love them. The treadwear is good on them, dont know an exact mileage but I know that they havent ever complained about them and they are definitely the most aggressive of those three tires.

Oh also, they aren't too loud either, they are louder than a "regular" at but not bad or unbearable.
