Bad Brake Calipers....
Bad Brake Calipers....
I have an '05 XLT Screw 4x4 with 10K miles. I took my truck into the dealer for a few other problems and thought I'd address the shuddering when braking....Ford, under factory warranty, is replacing the Front brake calipers tomorrow....They promised me the Rotors were ok...Anyone else experiencing/experienced this problem too???
hello! i have an 05 lariat screw 4x4 currently in the shop now for that same reason, i brought it in to the dealer in nov for the break nibble and they replaced the rotors. by feb the nibble was back, brought it back and thy tell me they should have replaced the calipers at the same time, now they are having trouble getting break preasure, peddle goes right to the floor. they change the master, still no preasure, today the are changing the abs controle module???, unbelievable!!! let you know how it works out.
OK, got the truck back today, Calipers were done on a TSB #05-21-19.....they assured me in writing the rotors were still ok...HOWEVER....now it doesn't feel like i had as much brake pressure as before BUT it does feel a lot better, more solid, when braking....
I was talking to my neighbor the other day (who happens to work at a brake shop), about my brakes. I have a 2000 150, and he told me that I'm lucky that it's not an 04+, because when the rotar needs replacing, it's not JUST the rotor, it's the whole package. He said the rotor and calipers are one unit, and normally only last about 50-60k miles. The whole package is about $290 per side. And to think, I was really lookin at them sweet lookin trucks.
