backspace/offset question

What is the difference between backspacing and offset? If I have a 17/9 offset +2 american eagle series 187 rims with the nitto grapplers 295/70/17 tires.. Will the tire stick out any? It's going to be on a 2006 f150 supercrew 4x4 with a 2.5 leveling kit.

Backspacing is the distance from the rear edge of the wheel to where it bolts to the hub. Off set is how far the mounting surface is from the center of the wheel. Those wheels have 4.6 inches of backspacing so they will stick out about 2 1/2 inches farther than the OEM wheels. Also, since they are 17's they may or may not fit over the brakes on your 06.
