Hey Ive got a 05 Screw and I have put a 2" front lift spacers installed. I have been told I can put 33's on this, is this true? Then what size rims would you guys suggest and do you have any photos of similar setups? I was thinking like 18"??? I was originally thinking like a 20" rim, but I am concerned that they are going to stick out the sides too much for my taste as well as not really knowing what I can get for tires that will look right.... You guys have any suggestions on the backspacing for all this stuff? Im lost.

 

Is the truck a 4x4 or 4x2?

 

If you've got a 4wd you can go up to 35". I just upgraded to a set of 17" FX4 wheels and BFG AT 315/70/17's(34.5") and have no rub at all. I do have a 2.5" autospring but I've also got a Westin brushguard w/Hella 4000 Metal lights that take a little out of the lift. I'll have some pics later on today.

I wouldn't put on anything larger than a 33" tire if your truck is a 4X2, and keep your backspacing on your wheel around 5-5.5", anything less and your wheels may "stick out" past the wheel well. If you go with an 18" wheel, I would suggest a tire size of 285/65's which works out to be about a 32.5" diameter. By the way, nice to see another truck on here from Palm Springs

edit: If you want to see my setup, click on the chingas. I have 17X9 wheels with 5.5" backspacing and 33X12.5X17 tires.

Super awesome... Hey thats pretty cool to find someone else from the desert.... I am quite familiar with that park you took photos at! Anyways thanks thats great info, just what I wanted to know... How does that Airaid tube work out for you? I saw those on ebay and was thinking about it since it is a lot less cash...

 

I like the Airaid MIT and using the stock airbox. Only noticeable difference is a little better throttle response. I had the full on Volant CAI system on prior but I didn't like the sound of it (a little too loud for me), and I didn't notice enough performance out of it to bear with the sound. Anyways, good luck with your wheel/tire decision and post some pics when you get them on!

 

So what would you say, if any was the difference betweeen the volant and the MIT?

 

To tell you the truth, I didn't notice any performance difference, but I don't have any hard data to back that up. I only had the Volant on for a week though and if there was any difference, like I said, I didn't notice any. Hope this helps.
