'98 F150 Abs?
'98 F150 Abs?
'98 f150 supercab/4.6/auto/4wd/174,000 miles. Just went out to put new front pads on and found that my driver side wheel bearing is sloppy. Looking online to get prices at different auto parts shops, and I need to know if I have 4 wheel ABS, or just rear. Is there something to look for on the hub? There are no wires that I can see on the hub, but I just found out they might go into the front diffy instead. If the sensor is in the diffy, what is the difference between the ABS hub, and non-ABS hub?
Thanks, Jeremy
Thanks, Jeremy
The ABS wire to the sensor will be at the hub bearing next to the exciter ring on the outer CV joint on 4x4 and on the exciter ring will be on the inside of the rotor on 4x2.
Look for the exciter ring on the outer CV as it goes into the hub. It is kinda a job to replace these hubs if you don't have much mechanical ability. I highly recommend that you think of replacing both sides. Most sealed bearings are only designed to go 100,000 miles.
Good luck.....

Thanks for the reply. I don't see anything like you described, so I'll go with non ABS and see if it matches up. The truck had the pass. side bearing replaced just before I bought it. I tore both sides apart while doing my lower ball joints last summer and it's not really that big of a job, just time consuming. Thanks again for the help.
