Kleen Wheels

Anyone ever try those Kleen Wheel inserts to help cut back on brake dust? If so how did you like them? Did they eat your brakes up or cause premature failures? Please let me know. I hate the brake dust all over the rims of my 04' 150.

They prevent air flow over and through the brakes. This will cause excessive heat and pre-mature break wear. That's the same reason you don't see wheels that are fully blocked off from the outside (old Centerline wheels), or full moon hub-caps like you used to when everybody had drum brakes.

Not to start a ruckus or anything but I like them. Mine have been on for about 11k miles now and NO problems with heat etc. I am switching to porterfield pads next week though to get rid of the brake squeal and think I may take them off then.

Put em on my Brand New (back in '86) Porsche. Brakes wore out in 5,000 miles. Technician said "Nien! You vill burn zem up vis zis Krap! Remove zem, schnell!" I did.

I've had them for about 6000 miles and I'm taking my truck in tomorrow for regular service and to have the brakes checked. They are squeaking bad. Front rotors look rough for 10 total miles. I went to take them off just in case Ford gives me a problem and they were baked to the rim. Dent the crap out of them to get them off and the black finish was cooked to the inside of the rim.

They did a great job but I do think they may have killed my brakes.

Will find out tomorrow.

Have them on a 97 Cherokee for over 15,000 miles with no problems at all. I don't notice the brakes going out any faster on this truck than on any other truck I've had them on. I wont say you wont have a problem but I haven't had any problem. Wheels have had hubcaps on them for decades covering up the slots in the original steels wheels and that was before ceramic pads were around. I am using ceramic pads on this Jeep.
